PETA

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 3 million members and supporters. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds, and other “pests” as well as cruelty to domesticated animals. PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.

Toronto Pig Save

Our mission is to put “glass walls” on Toronto’s three slaughterhouses: St. Helen’s Meat Packers and Ryding-Regency Meat Packers cow slaughterhouses located at 1 and 7 Glen Scarlett Road, and Maple Leaf Poultry chicken slaughterhouse located at 100 Ethel Avenue. Our goal is to encourage people: to join us and bear witness of the suffering of animals in transport and at slaughterhouses, to go vegan, to be daily animal activists, to protect the environment, to promote healthy living, to support farm sanctuaries, and to work towards a just transition for workers and the creation of meaningful and nonviolent work in a vegan food economy.

We Animals

The We Animals project was created by award-winning photojournalist, author and activist Jo-Anne McArthur, who has been documenting the plight of animals on all seven continents for over a decade. We Animals has become an internationally celebrated archive, and over one hundred animal organizations have benefited from her photography, many of which continue to work closely with Jo-Anne on stories, investigations, campaigns and humane education.

Circus Protest.com

Animals confined to circus life do not have the ability to exercise their free will or live any semblance of a normal, natural life. They perform tricks out of fear of pain, suffering, and retribution, which they have endured since they were young. The circus would have you believe that it is acceptable to beat animals for entertainment and then to confine them while traveling the country for months on end. We believe that freedom matters. Do you?

Vegetarianism and the Major World Religions

Vegetarianism and the Major World Religions The major world religions all provide a sound basis for a vegetarian diet, especially as informed by advances in nutrition, ecology, and agriculture.  Now that factory farming has become widespread, animal welfare concerns underscore the imperative to avoid consuming animal products.
